Chris Knape, from The Grand Rapids Press, writes about the new CityFlatsHotel located at 83 Monroe Center NW in Downtown Grand Rapids.
"From the moment one walks through the door, it's clear this is unlike any other hotel in the city."
"CityFlats is expected to receive LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council because of its emphasis on eco-friendly features and construction methods."
"Doug Small, president of Experience Grand Rapids, the area's convention and visitors bureau, said the hotel is the right size to capture some of the gains being made in the slowly recovering corporate travel market."
"It's really the first true boutique hotel Grand Rapids has," Small said. "Those tend to be popular with what I call the higher-demographic corporate traveler — attorneys trying cases here, people visiting the medical mile."

The historic Fox Jewelers sign can be seen through the back-lit acrylic bar at the CityFlatsHotel, which now uses the Fox building. Wooden pillars that once held up the building were used in the base of the bar.

The CitySēn Lounge inside the CityFlatsHotel features a full bar plus a coffee and espresso bar that is open 24 hours.
